Overview
To access the gradebook, click on the Gradebook tab at the top of the screen. Note: The Gradebook layout was updated in August 2026.

At the top left is toggle buttons to show either Grid View or List View.
List View
The List View has not changed from previous versions and lists the Item, Category, Due Date, Marking Status and Post indicator.
To Do List
The Overview tab has been replaced by a To Do list, available from the button on the right-hand side. This opens a new pane on the right which shows:
- Needs reconciling lists all items ready for reconciliation. Select Reconcile now to open the Submissions tab for the item. Then review grades and feedback from others before determining the final grade. NOTE: This section only appears if you are an assigned grader for parallel grading. It’s hidden when you have no items for reconciliation.
- Needs grading lists submissions ready for grading with the oldest ungraded submissions at the top of the list, allowing you to prioritize grading tasks. Select Grade now to open the submission and begin grading.
- Needs posting lists graded assessments that are ready to be posted. Select Post now to immediately post the graded assessment.

Grid View

The new Grid View has some differences:
- The rows are now striped grey and white to help with identifying a student’s marks.
- There is a separate column for Student ID.
- The Accommodations flag is now clearly show after the student’s name.
- The new To Do list is available from this screen via the button at the top right-hand side.
- There is now a new search box and filter button side by side at the top of the screen. The Filter button opens a new dialog box which contains drop-down lists Students, Groups, Category (discussion, assignment, test, journal, etc.), Types (formative or summative) and Markable Items (a list of assignments).
- There are more sorting options, the table can now be sorted by Student Name, Student ID, Overall Mark or any gradebook column.
- The Student Name can be displayed by First name, last name or Last name, First name in Gradebook Settings.
- There is a toggle button in Gradebook Settings to display or hid the Student ID in the Gradebook.


Previously, right-clicking on an assessment in the gradebook opened a drop-down menu with options to View submissions, Download results, View statistics, and Send reminders. These opened in individual windows. Now theses are all on a new pane which opens to the right. The key details about the assessment are all visible in one place.
- At the top is the assignment title and type (formative/summative) with next and previous buttons. Clicking the assessment name will show the assignment settings screen.
- There are 3 buttons below Send Reminders, Download Submissions/Download Results and View Statistics.
- Below this are buttons to View Submissions and Post all Marks. These were previously on a menu accessed by right-clicking the assessment item.
- Assessment details including due date, mark type, visibility, attempts, posting type, accommodations and item exceptions are listed.
- There is a button to delete the item at the bottom of the screen.

Entering Marks Manually
There may be a need to enter marks manually or override marks. Manual mark entry can be used if the assessment has been marked offline, e.g. assessment of artwork or practical activities. Marks can be overridden following moderation where a new mark has been agreed. To enter marks manually or override marks:,
Hover over the top of the box where the mark will be added. A pen will appear, click this and the boxes below will turn pink.

Click in the pink boxes and enter the mark. When you have entered all of the marks, click the tick at the top of the box.

If you are entering feedback manually, then click on the the mark. A new panel will open on the right. At the top are arrows to the left and right to move between the columns (different assessments) and up and down arrows to move between the students for this particular assessment. Here you can also view the Submission details, add Assessment feedback or Marker notes. These can be used for moderation purposes or to explain why the mark has been overridden. The student will be able to read the assessment feedback, but will not be able to see the marker notes. These are for staff use only.

Accommodations
Accommodations for a specific assessment are now added from the new Mark Details panel. Options include.
- Exempting the student from submission. Any submission the student makes is excluded from the overall mark calculation.
- Extensions can be given by changing the due date and time.
- Access to the assessment can be added where a student will be taking the assessment at a different time.
- Attempts allowed can be altered to give the student further opportunities to upload work or take a test.

Posting Marks from Grid View
New items to mark are indicated by a purple dot and the Mark icon will indicate the number of submissions.
When marks have been added an icon will appear at the top of the column to show how many marks need posting.

To post the marks, click on the aeroplane icon and click on Post All Marks.
